Pyometra is a uterine infection in female chins. This condition can happen whether or not a chinchilla has given birth. When the uterus becomes infected you may see a whitish discharge from between the urethral cone and anus. The whole bottom area may be wet and crusty and the chin may excessively groom the genital area.
This is an emergency situation!
Treatment is with strong antibiotics and hysterectomy.
